Those cymbals are very special cymbals to me. I was a full time Professor at The Berklee College of Music, in Boston MA. Paiste was great to me, and still is. I was in Boston From 2011 until I resigned in August 2022. Paiste provided cymbals for my Berklee office, my home studio and my "in -the -go" se ups. Zildjian provides cymbals for the entire school! But in my office was all Paiste. I no longer teach at Berklee, I decided to run my on school online and also a my brick and mortar school, now in Colorado. Thanks to Andrew Shrive (former Artist Relations with Paiste, now with Gretch) and HugeThanks to Kelly Paiste, and Ti Shahady, I did get some real nice set of Paiste cymbals. This one is actually in tune with my drums. Thanks for asking. From left to right: 13" Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi Hats, 14" 2002 Crash with 8" splash high, 16" 2002 Thin Crash with a 8" Splash medium signatures/ then in the center is a 10" 2002 Splash low. To mi right is a 20" 2002 Crash (as a ride) above that is a 18" Thin Crash, then a 16" 2002 China Type. and a 10" Alpha Mini hi hats. This is at my home office/studio. At The Drum Set Coach Academy, my school, there is a kind of replica of this set up but it is all Signatures and Dark Energy. You might hear it here on a few recent videos on double bass pedal integration from a few weeks ago. Any videos with the black Sonor drums is at the school, any videos with the white drums is at my home studio. Thanks, hope that helps! H-TDSC - Just for the record, Vic Firth makes my sticks, TheDrumSetCoach red sticks, and my Natural wood double glazed finish Jazz sticks. As you know Zildjian purchased Vic Firth. So, I do have a relationship with the company due to the fact that I am a Vic Firth Artist.

@@HenriqueDeAlmeida : thanks so much for your elaborating on my question, specifying the exact Paiste setup you are playing and explaining how you got into playing Paiste cymbals. I have been playing Signature and Formula 602 cymbals for many years, but as a matter of fact, I keep coming back to my 2002 cymbals. There is that clean-warm sound, a kind of 'compactness' I'd say of the 2002 B8-alloy that I love. To me these cymbals just feel right in the musical context. Furthermore it is nice to learn how things are evolving in your musical career. I wish you a lot of succes with your online school and brick and mortar school. Keep up the good work!

@@janceulema Thank you, to be honest I do play Jazz on Paiste Traditional Line, specially live, also Masters series. However, I am getting better (I think) on learning how to play 2002 to suit my style. The 2002 set can be very powerful, volume, and brightness. So I must have control over this, and try to play in such away that the set "CAN" give me the power when I need, but also be soft and warm when I need it to be that way. I need to do a UA-cam video about the 2002's. Because very few people know the truth about Jazz drummers years ago. There are video on Tony Williams, playing JAZZ ! with 2002's, with Chick Corea, and it sounded amazing, there are videos on UA-cam of Danny Richmond, playing JAZZ! on 2002's with Charles Mingus, and it sounds Awesome! the list goes on and on, Joe Morello, Danny Gottlieb on all the Pat Metheny recordings and live, Paul Wertico, with Pat! Roy Haynes famous flat ride on Now He Sings Now He Sobs, is a 16" Paiste 602! and way , Art Blakey played 2002's , Elvin Jones LOL so, I will do some videos on this... any way thank you...reach out on FB , send me a PM and we talk about cymbals, I love cymbal playing...God Bless! @@HenriqueDeAlmeida Thanks for your extensive reply. The Masters and Traditionals are great cymbals too, but as a matter of fact I need to gain more experience with these series. It is my impression that the Masters (especially the Dark Crashes) sound at their best when played gently. The Masters to me seem to be more complex in sound and thus require more attention when playing them (I need to learn them more). With a 2002 you always know where the cymbal will sit/fit in your sound as a drummer, I think. The 2002 series got marketed as cymbals to be used in electrified music as they are designed to cut through the mix. And indeed, as you mention: they can be bright and powerful, but fortunately also warm and soft and still sound magnificent. It would be great if you could do a UA-cam-video on the 2002 series. As you stated many people effectively do not know about how the 2002’s (and also Formula 602’s) got played by (jazz) drummers in the sixties, seventies and beyond. Playing jazz with 2002’s looks like a cool idea. Since we now have 2002 Thin Crashes this is something that I’d certainly like to explore.
